Privacy policy

ALTiDUX has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. Your training stays on your iPhone and your Apple Watch. We receive personal data in three cases only: when you switch on live tracking for a race, when you write to us, and as the ordinary records of a web server.
Who is responsible
The controller of the personal data described here is:
Rafał Maniak
hello@altidux.com
ALTiDUX is run by Rafał Maniak until the company that will run it is registered; its name, number and registered office will then be given here.
Write to hello@altidux.com about anything on this page, including to use your rights.
What stays on your devices
The app keeps this in its own storage on your iPhone and Apple Watch. It is not sent to us and we cannot see it.
- What you enter: your name, age, height and weight, heart-rate figures, paces and best times, your races and goals, your training days, your answers after a run, what interrupted your training when you tell the app (for example an illness or an injury), and a profile photo if you choose one.
- What the app reads from Apple Health, if you allow it: your workouts with their distance, time, heart rate and route; for the full picture of a run also steps, active energy, running power, stride length, ground contact time and vertical oscillation; your VO2 max and your heart-rate zones. On the watch, during a run: heart rate, distance, running speed and active energy.
- What the watch app writes to Apple Health, if you allow it: the runs you record with ALTiDUX, with their route.
- Your location during a run, if you allow it: used on your watch and iPhone to find where you are on the course. It leaves your device only with live tracking (below).
- Your calendar, if you switch on "Add the workouts to Calendar": the app writes the workouts of your plan to a calendar named ALTiDUX on your device and keeps them up to date. If you use iCloud Calendar, Apple syncs it as any calendar.
- Course files (GPX) you import, and the plans and predictions the app works out.
Health data is a special category of personal data. It is used only on your devices, to plan and guide your training. It is never sent to us, never used for advertising, and never sold or passed on.
If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, the app's storage is part of that backup, as for any app; that is between you and Apple. Deleting the app deletes its storage. Runs saved to Apple Health stay in Health until you delete them there.
What we receive, why, and on what legal ground
Live tracking
Live tracking lets people you choose follow a race on a web page. It is off until you switch it on for a race, and the app tells you what is sent before you do.
- When you switch it on: the first name from your profile, the course of that race (its name, length, climb, line and height profile) and your plan for it (the time planned at the finish, and your aid stations with their names, planned times, stops and time limits) are sent to our server.
- During the race, about once a minute, your watch sends: your position, the distance covered, the time since the start, your expected finish time, your current pace and the kind of ground you are on.
- Never sent: your heart rate or any other health data, your training history, anything before you start the race or after you end it.
- Who can see it: anyone who has the link. The link holds a random 24-character code; there is no list of races, and the page asks search engines not to index it.
- How long it is kept: the race is deleted from the server two days after it ends, or three days after the watch was last heard from. Switching live tracking off in the app deletes it at once.
- Against misuse the server counts how many races are started from one internet address in a day. It keeps that count for up to two days under a scrambled form of the address that changes daily, not the address itself.
Legal ground: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and UK GDPR). You withdraw it at any time by switching live tracking off; what was done before stays lawful. People who open your link load the page from our server; it sets no cookies and stores nothing in their browser.
When you write to us
We use your e-mail address and your message to answer you. If you asked to be told when the app is ready, we write to you once, on the day it reaches the App Store, and then delete your address.
Legal ground: for an answer, our legitimate interest in replying to what you sent us (Article 6(1)(f)); for the one message at launch, your consent, given by asking for it (Article 6(1)(a)). Kept: until your question is settled and at most 12 months; a request to be told about the launch until that message is sent. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
This website
- Server records. Our hosting provider, IONOS, records each request in technical log files (time, page, browser, and the internet address in shortened form) and keeps them for up to eight weeks, to run and protect the server. IONOS also counts visits from the same log files and shows us totals (pages, days, countries, browsers), without cookies and without anything run in your browser.
- No cookies, no analytics code, no advertising, and nothing loaded from other companies: the fonts are on our own server.
- Your browser keeps one thing, and only if you use it: when you switch between light and dark, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage on your device. It is not sent to us.
Legal ground: our legitimate interest in a working, secure website and in knowing how much it is used (Article 6(1)(f)).
Purchases
ALTiDUX PRO is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment as its own controller, under its own privacy policy; we receive no payment details and no names, only Apple's sales totals. The app checks on your device, through Apple, whether your subscription is active.
Connections the app makes to others
- The picture of your race's town. To draw it, the app asks public OpenStreetMap servers (overpass-api.de, overpass.private.coffee) for the map of that area. They receive the area of the race and, as any server does, your internet address. They do not receive your own position or anything about you.
- The place of your race. To find the town, Apple's Maps service receives the place name you typed or the start of the course.
- A course from a link. If you paste a link to a GPX file, the app downloads it from the address you gave.
- Searching for a course. "Find the course on the web" opens your browser with a web search for the race's name. From there the browser's and the search engine's own rules apply.
These services act under their own responsibility. The app contains no advertising or analytics code and no code from other companies.
Who processes data for us
Nobody buys or is given your data. IONOS hosts our web server and our e-mail and handles the data named above on our behalf, under a data-processing agreement (Article 28). Our server and mail are in data centres in the European Union or the United Kingdom; data moves between the two under the adequacy decisions each has made for the other.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you and have a copy, have it corrected or deleted, have its use restricted, receive it in a portable form, object to its use on the ground of our legitimate interest, and withdraw a consent at any time. Write to hello@altidux.com; we answer within one month. In practice we hold very little: a live-tracking race while it exists, and your e-mail if you wrote to us.
You can also complain to a data-protection authority: in the United Kingdom the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in the European Union the authority of the country where you live or work, for example in Poland the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO, uodo.gov.pl) and in the Czech Republic the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ, uoou.gov.cz).
No decisions made about you by a machine
The app works out plans, paces and predictions on your device as suggestions for your training. No decision with legal or similarly significant effect is made about you by automated means.
Children
ALTiDUX is not meant for children under 16.
Changes
When the app changes in a way that matters here, this page changes first and the date at the top with it.
